Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

The install was easy following the videos. The wiring was the most difficult part, had to run a wire from engine bay to hitch. If anything was a little lacking, was the wiring video. But overall a great product.
It was pretty much plug and play except for for running wire up under hood for power. The drawtite hitch I will be using has a provision for trailer plug mount, but to get the plug to the provision via the shortest path from the taillight caused a concerning amount of tension, so would recommend adding a couple of inches to the four pin connector to give a little more flexibility in placing the connector on the hitch assembly. This is and the lack of shrink tubing to waterproof the butt connectors is the only reason for 4 stars.
Had this installed by a professional body shop that had proper tools and know how. Tool them a little over 2 hours to install hitch and wiring. This particular wring configuration has to have a hot wire run to battery area. Excellent product, quick shipping and fair price.
Almost plug and play! No need to cut any factory wires which was a huge plus, as well as an incredible video walkthrough that makes install seamless. The only wiring you need to do is for the power wire, but all wiring and connections are included. Very easy install.
Very easy installation and works great with my little boat trailer and utility trailer. Little challenging feeding the power wire to the battery but got it done.

Install took a little longer than 2.5 hours as my husband and son had to redo the wiring. They did follow the video which helped a lot!

Got here fast, was easy to install. I have bought several things from this company over the years and their customer service is the best!
Followed along with the video… dropping the line through the grommet was a lot more difficult than suggested in the video. Also, butt splicers that come with this kit are terrible.
Wiring harness made the project so much easier! Fast shipping, great customer service! The video tutorials were immensely helpful. Got a little stuck on running the hot lead, since everything is so tight under the Jeep, but we figured it out.
Easy to install, only wished you offered a wiring harness for a 8 pin plug. But overall I like the product.

Poor quality wire, I certainly did not get my monies worth, must be from China, very disappointed.
Package was in the same bad as hitch, but everything was there, so what do I care. I’ve been using solder seal shrink wrap but end connectors. Heat gun melts solder and shrinks wrap. Routing power wire to battery is not for the faint of heart, but I knew what I was getting into. Service was fantastic. Ordered Tuesday and had it on Thursday!

wiring works fine-I wish there was an easier way to get to the battery-Or start bleeding in to lighter adaptors that most vehicles have-You've got installing hitches down pat, though!
